How It Works
Create the boomerang effect in three simple steps.
Upload Your Video
Drag and drop or click to select any video file. Keep clips short — 2 to 5 seconds work best for the boomerang effect.
Choose Your Settings
Select forward+reverse or other modes, set the loop count, and adjust playback speed. The timeline shows your sequence before exporting.
Download Instantly
FFmpeg joins the forward and reversed clips in your browser. Download a seamlessly looping boomerang video immediately.
Everything You Need
A complete boomerang video maker built entirely in your browser.
3 Boomerang Modes
Forward+Reverse (classic), Reverse+Forward, or Forward+Reverse+Forward ping-pong — all in one export.
Custom Loop Count
Set 1 to 20 loops with the +/- stepper. The timeline visualiser updates instantly to show the full sequence.

Free Online Boomerang Video Maker — Create the Boomerang Effect in Your Browser
Our boomerang video tool lets you create the forward-reverse loop effect popularized by Instagram — processed entirely in your browser using FFmpeg WebAssembly. No uploads, no server, complete privacy.
How the Boomerang Effect Works Technically
The boomerang effect is created by concatenating the original video clip with a reversed copy of itself. FFmpeg's reverse filter creates the reversed clip, and the concat demuxer joins them into one seamless output. For multiple loops, the pattern is repeated using a concat list file — the same approach used in our Loop Video tool.
Best Practices for Boomerang Videos
The most satisfying boomerang effects come from short clips with clear, distinct motion — a hand clap, a jump, a wave, liquid pouring or splashing. Clips where the start and end frames are similar produce the smoothest loop. Avoid very slow or static footage as the back-and-forth motion will not be noticeable.
